Creating Concept Notes

The purpose of the workshop is to introduce participants to the skills required to create a project overview and describing it in a concept note. Participants will be aware of what is needed in a concept note to attract potential donors to engage in further discussion of the idea.

The participants will develop a project concept note. From the Goal and Purpose of the activity, they will develop a comprehensive list of the tasks to be completed and group them into major outputs of the project. The participants will also evaluate the assumptions they are making about the environment for the life of the project and the risks that these assumptions pose to project success.

By the end of the workshop, the participants will:
  • be aware of the knowledge required by donors in considering a proposal;
  • be able to identify all of the stakeholders in a project and describe their role;
  • know the characteristics of each component of a project logframe;
  • be able to design a project and represent it as a logframe; and
  • be able to identify the assumptions and associated risks in their project.
