Training@IRRI
IRRI is internationally recognized for its rice science and its
gene bank. Rice professionals have access to more than 100,000 accessions
through IRRI's gene bank. We at the IRRI Training Center
work with researchers and extension agents to facilitate the development
of human resources.
Since 1964, over 14,000 scientists have been trained to conduct
rice research. IRRI scholars have become ministers, secretaries,
and leaders within the national research and extension systems (NARES).
Many have also become leading scientists all over Asia. By helping
to build human capacity, IRRI Training has enhanced
national systems and ultimately has improved the quality of life
in agricultural nations.
Mission
Develop the technical, problem-solving, opportunity optimization,
and knowledge/skills development capability of rice scientists and
professionals worldwide.

who can develop, apply, and transfer knowledge and technologies
to address national priorities and contribute to global research
in rice.
Objectives
